We as Christians & Reflections of Easter


Easter marks a Sunday on which life, good deeds, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is observed. This day brings an end to the 3 days or Easter Triduum which starts on Thursday evening and ends on Resurrection Sunday which is as well known today as Easter Sunday. The week before Easter is termed as the Holy Week, the Thursday of which marks the beginning of Easter Triduum and the Friday is Good Friday. The Easter Triduum starts from Thursday evening ending on Sunday evening, the day Easter is celebrated.

Generally across the globe and here in Nigeria, this day is being hailed as the day when resurrection of Jesus took place, three days after his burial. Hence this day is also referred to as Resurrection Sunday. Even though Easter has a different connotation as this day is also linked to so many other things but the resurrection of Jesus Christ is a predominant factor for Christians as of today. This is often also held in similarity with Jewish Passover through the Last Supper, sufferings, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus and also because of the fact that both of these fall around the same time in the Christian calendar.

In Western Christianity, this time is referred to as Eastertide; it begins on Easter Sunday and lasts for seven weeks, ending with the fiftieth day, Pentecost Sunday. This time is also called the Easter Season. Similarly in Orthodoxy, the Pascha season commences on Pascha and ends on the fortieth day, with the Feast of the Ascension.

According to the New Testament, the foundation of Christian faith begins or comes to light with resurrection of Jesus Christ (how true this is will be left for us to answer), and this very day is celebrated on Easter. Resurrection is actually proof of the belief that Jesus is the Son of God and he will judge the world in virtue. During the Last Supper, he prepared himself for his death and declared the same to his disciples. He held a glass of wine and identified the wine as his blood and the glass as his body which were soon to be sacrificed. This meal is termed as the Passover meal and the resurrection that followed his crucifixion marked the Easter Season.

(REFLECTIONS):
How often have been able to truly reflect on why there was a Last Supper, a Cruxification and a Resurrection? Our various religious believe has their different platforms on which they truly are based on. These differences does not make believe we are enemies of a divine and supernatural one being. Jesus, even at the point of death showed and shared love with people, especially his followers and left the traitor to his fate without exposing him to others. He choosed His fate without accusations and moved on.

Obasa Meets China Ambassador: Advocates A Mini Technology Hub for Ojo Local Government

In what could be referred to as a familiarization meeting yesterday, Hon. Tajudeen Adekunle Obasa (MHR) took a step further in presenting Ojo Local Government before the world.T he meeting in company of some other Nigerian federal legislatures and members of the National Assembly highlights some very important agendas which is unique to each of the visiting law makers. On the part of Obasa, some part of his speech centered on how the Chinese Ambassador ( Zhao Yong) will use his office in supporting him to ensure Ojo Local Government becomes a mini Technology Hub in Lagos State.
