RAMADAN KAREEM
Dear Muslim Constituents,
Ramadan is here again! The most sacred month of the year in the Islamic culture. Sure it met us all well? In the teachings of the great Prophet; we were made to know that when the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of heaven are opened and the gates of hell are closed and the devils are chained. As Muslims, we must also adhere to the rules of the holy month as it is the month God revealed the first verses of the Quran to Prophet Mohammed. That was the night known as "The Night of Power" or “Laylat al-Qadr” in Arabic.
Fasting in another word, we should remember helps to strengthen one's relationship with God alongside other activities like prayers, charity and generosity that makes the month even more pious. Fasting is considered as the biggest act of religious observance. Fasting (sawm in Arabic), is one of the five key pillars of the Islamic faith. The others are prayer (salat), giving a percentage of your salary to charity (zakat), making the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca and, of course, a belief in the Muslim faith (shahadah).
As we observe Ramadan which is usually from dawn to dusk lets ensure we are in the right mood of prayers for ourselves and our country (Nigeria). Dont let equally hesitate to seize the opportunity of Ramadan to get more closer to God and refrain from materialistic pleasures as a people and as Muslims to be specific.
May this month gives us the best of our wishes in life as we gradually pass through it.
Ramadan Kareem!!!
