OBASA SPEECH AS DELIVERED ON THE 12TH OF JUNE 2019
SPEECH AS DEILIVERED AT THE INNAUGURAL RECEPTION OF THE MHR REPRESENTING OJO FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY ON THE 12TH OF JUNE 2019.
PROTOCOLS:
I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed on me, mindful of the sweat and sacrifices borne by you all. I have been the subject of abuse and slander scarcely over the last four years which today I feel that I can afford to disregard in view of your verdict, which I gratefully accept as my vindication.
We have passed through the anxieties of elections and rerun election , during this time you all showed up and support me by casting your vote to ensure my return to office as a Member House of Representatives, Representing Ojo Federal constituency.
Starting today, we must pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off, and begin again the work of making Ojo great. We will work to ensure that everyone feel seen, heard, and connected to the office as a part of an extended family united by common purpose. Our greatest primary task is to put people to work, this is no unsolvable problem if we face it wisely and courageously through Employment and Empowerment. Employment opportunities from Ministries, Departments and Agencies will be given to job seekers in our constituency.
Empowerment program for beneficiaries in the community such as Youths , Women and Artisans, these will be of great help to the youths as they grow to become the leaders of tomorrow. Women will be empowered with skills acquisition programs and token to start such businesses . Artisans will be empowered with Digital Technologies.
Attention will also be paid to pregnant women so as to end maternal mortality in our Communities. We will strive to provide them with a good healthcare system, through working hand in hand with the Ministry of Health.
In a land of great wealth, families must not live in hopeless poverty, in a land rich in harvest, children must not go hungry. As a Legislator I will work on making changes to existing laws or passing new legislation base on this constituency needs.
Thank you all for listening and May God bless you all and God bless Ojo Constituency.
Hon. Tajudeen Adekunle Obasa (MHR)
